Healthy Eating
At Little Peeps Nursery, we pride ourselves on the quality of our food.
With the help from our parents and children the nurseries provide a well- balanced, nutritional, tasty, home-cooked meals. Our Menus are on a 4 weekly rota system ensuring the children get a wide range of variety and we cater for all styles of healthy foods from all kinds of origin. We are happy to cater for food preferences, such as vegetarian, coeliacs or food allergies. We can also provide food for weaning babies when they are ready to try finger food, (Tiptree nursery only).
Mealtimes at Little Peeps are happy, relaxed, social occasions. Children sit in small groups at tables and are encouraged to self serve, talk to each other and also clear up at the end of the meal. At lunch times the older children lay the tables with table cloths, knives and forks along with cups and drinks (Tiptree Setting).
Our trained Staff do the weekly shopping ordering ensuring that only the best fresh fruit and vegetables are used for the meals.
Every meal is freshly prepared on site in our designated catering area which has been awarded a 5 star hygiene rating.
Our menus are reviewed every 6 months with the team, the parents and children's involvement.
Drinks and snacks are available throughout the day in all rooms; however we do have a set period in the morning and in the afternoon when we encourage children to take part in snack. Milk is served at Breakfast and with snack during the day.
All children (except the very young) are encouraged to serve and feed themselves at meal times.

The meal times at nursery are as follows:
8:00-8:45 Breakfast
10:00-10:30 Snack
11:45-12:20 Lunch
2:15 – 2:30 Snack
4.15– 4:45 Tea
Our snacks vary from fresh fruit, vegetable sticks, breadsticks with dips, savoury biscuits with cheese or sweet biscuits.
To encourage children to eat vegetables, we have our own vegetable patch where we grow many types of vegetables and herbs, the children have an active part in planting and harvesting these foods.
Menus are displayed daily in the front porch and in the back of children's Nursery to Home book's.
Throughout the year we provide the children with different foods form around the world to tie in with different celebrations such as, Easter, Bonfire night, Halloween, Christmas and many more.
All staff hold current food hygiene certificates.
